WORKING TOGETHER
ActiveChefs is a charitable organization (Canadian registered charity) predominantly supported by dedicated volunteers, in-kind contributions, donations and one-off grants. We receive no on-going funding of any kind and need your help to continue offering our programs and services.
Volunteers
Volunteers who donate their time, energy and expertise are the foundation and the most valuable asset of our organization. There are numerous opportunities for volunteers at our programs, events or to support our activities. High school students can accumulate community involvement hours required to graduate and receive their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Please contact us if you are interested in becoming an ActiveChefs Volunteer! Donations
As a charitable organization, ActiveChefs relies on contributions from individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations that provide an equal opportunity for everyone to participate, especially those in most need. Your donation will enable us to continue offering free programs, resources, nutritious food and eliminate socio-economic and other barriers. You may direct your donation to support any of our existing programs, events, activities, or help us adopt new schools, neighborhoods, communities and benefit more families. You can make a donation by clicking the options below or check out the Contact/Donate page. Tax receipts are issued for eligible donations and gifts to ActiveChefs and qualify for charitable tax credit in Canada. Thank you for your generous support! "As any good chef will tell you the best recipes are made with only the finest ingredients. ActiveChefs provides their students with the finest ingredients
as well – an education based on healthy choices and lots of fun !!" -- Cathy Duddeck, Town & Regional Councillor, Oakville "It’s so rewarding to see kids engaged in learning about preparing and eating healthy food and having fun while doing it. The potential benefits of a program like this are huge." -- Alison Hilborn, Our Kids Network
"The children and families have had such a positive experience with
ActiveChefs and you are doing excellent and needed work.” -- Brian Van Wyngaarden, Principal, HDSB “Active Chefs was a huge success in Acton. The kids and families and community partners loved the program. We have other families interested in participating and hope to be able to bring the program back as soon as possible!” -- Rishia Burke, Community Development Halton
“Your programs have enhanced and furthered our learning and our commitment to build a culture of healthy minds and healthy bodies."
-- Karen Bonanno, Principal, HDSB I can't thank you enough for bringing this program to my son's school and allowing him to participate. I believe it has been an invaluable experience! Thank you and all the best!” -- Lianne, Parent
“We have been a Healthy School since we opened six years ago. This program reinforces healthy eating and the use of fresh ingredients. It was a perfect fit. One highlight of our five week partnership with ActiveChefs was the opportunity to share the extra food prepared by the children with a Long Term Care facility two blocks from our school. It has given us the opportunity to touch others in our community and opened the door to the possibility of future endeavors. I would encourage all schools to try one of ActiveChefs programs in their school.”
-- Margaret Dennie, Vice Principal, HCDSB “I think more programs like ActiveChefs are needed to help kids become more open to try new ideas and explore diversity.” -- Tammy, Parent
“It’s a nice program to help kids learn a valuable life skill.” -- Sandra, Parent
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the
wonderful programs you are providing for the new generation.” -- Cristina "This program gave my kids so much achievement that
they could actually cook for family." -- Helen, Parent “This program is a really valuable one both for learning about food and for sharing between generations. It's a nice touch for the kids to be able to
share with the retirement residence. Thanks and keep it up.” -- Kevin Flynn, MPP, Oakville, Ontario |
